Legal document
Terms of Service
These Terms briefly explain the conditions for using Lectorium and how we protect the local-first experience. By continuing to use the app, you indicate that you have read and agree to these conditions.
1The service
Lectorium is a local-first academic workspace for reading, annotating, writing, and organizing documents. It runs in the Android app and can connect to Google Drive and Dropbox to open, edit, and sync files when you request it. External connections are always optional.
The current version does not offer paid checkout, recurring subscriptions, or cloud storage operated by Lectorium. If those resources are launched in the future, pricing and conditions will be shown clearly before any purchase, as required by Brazilian Consumer Protection Code art. 31.
2License
We grant you a personal, worldwide, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Lectorium for academic, research, and personal productivity purposes in the Android app.
You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service.
3Account and access responsibility
Lectorium access is authenticated via Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activities performed through it. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use: contato@lectorium.com.br.
4Acceptable use
You may not use Lectorium to:
- Process, store, or distribute illegal content or content that violates third-party rights (including copyright).
- Attempt to bypass the app's, any integrated API's, or the service infrastructure's security mechanisms.
- Automate requests in ways that place unreasonable load on third-party infrastructure.
- Engage in any activity that violates applicable Brazilian or international law.
You are responsible for the legality of files and content you process. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules.
5Local data and risk of loss
Lectorium is local-first. Data not synced to the cloud — pending queue items or offline-mode files — lives in your local app storage.
Clearing local app data, hardware failure, or OS reinstallation can cause irreversible loss of that data. Keep backups of important files in Google Drive or another synced provider.
We do not hold copies of your local data and cannot recover it. Files synced with Google Drive or Dropbox remain subject to the settings and policies of the account you connected.
6Paid service, storage, and billing
The current version has no paid plans, in-app billing, recurring subscription, or user-contracted Lectorium storage. You will not be charged by Lectorium without an explicit future checkout step.
If a paid offer is enabled in the future, these Terms will be updated before launch and purchase will require specific acceptance.
7Right of withdrawal (Brazil — CDC art. 49)
Because the current version has no paid Lectorium checkout, there is no charge to cancel or refund. If paid features are launched in the future, users in Brazil may exercise the right of withdrawal within 7 calendar days from purchase, as provided by Brazilian Consumer Protection Code art. 49.
8Cancellation
The current version has no Lectorium subscription. You can disconnect external accounts, sign out, and clear local data through the app.
For support with access, permission revocation, or local data, contact: contato@lectorium.com.br. We will respond within 5 business days.
9Artificial intelligence
AI features use Large Language Models (LLMs), which operate probabilistically. Lectorium does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of AI-generated output.
Do not use AI output for critical decisions — medical, legal, financial — without qualified human review. You assume responsibility for how output is used in academic work or publications.
10Third-party services
Some features depend on external platforms: Google Drive, Google OAuth, Gemini AI, and Dropbox. Their terms and policies also apply to your use of those features. We are not liable for interruptions or changes in those platforms.
11Warranty disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of uninterrupted availability or error-free operation, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. We work to maintain high availability but do not guarantee a specific SLA for the free tier.
12Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (including mandatory consumer protection rights under Brazilian law), the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Total liability for direct damages is capped at the amount paid in the preceding 12 months (if any). This limitation does not apply to damages caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
13Changes and termination
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date of the new version constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
In the event of permanent service termination, users will be notified at least 30 days in advance via the app interface or email, and will have access to export their data during that period.
14Intellectual property
Lectorium and its elements — source code, design, brand, icons, and text — are the exclusive property of the developer and protected by Brazilian intellectual property law. Your file content remains your property; the license you grant us is limited to what is strictly necessary to provide the service.
15Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the Municipality of Aracaju, State of Sergipe, Brazil, without prejudice to the consumer's right to elect the courts of their domicile under Brazilian Consumer Protection Code art. 101, I.
